Dr Hazel Mumpansha

President


Hazel is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. She is a specialist Paediatric Anaesthesiologist, leadership fellow and also a lecturer and researcher with the University of Zambia (UNZA). She is currently serving as the Secretary-General for the College of Anaesthesiologists of East, Central and Southern Africa (CANECSA), a member of Women in Global Health Zambia and a Trustee for the Global Anaesthesia Development Partnerships (GADP). Hazel’s special interests are simulation, pain medicine global health and medical ethics. In her spare time, Hazel loves to travel and explore new places.

Dr Abel Mwale

Secretary General


Abel is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care with experience in both the public and private sectors. He is a fellow of CANECSA (College of Anaesthesiologists of East, Central and Southern Africa). He is currently the Secretary-General of the African Regional Section (ARS) of the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA). He is also the Secretary-General of the Society of Anaesthetists of Zambia (SAZ). He is the council member and country representative of the College of Anaesthesiologists of East, Central and Southern Africa (CANECSA) where he also serves on the examinations committee. He is a trainer in the management of surgical emergencies, emergency medicine and first aid. Serves as a consultant in the formulation of health strategies in the first, second and third-level hospitals. He is a lecturer under the Specialty Training programme (STP).

Dr Maszuyo Zyambo

Treasurer


Masuzyo is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and intensive care as well as advanced regional anaesthesia and acute pain. He is currently co-leading the Covid-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital (LMUTH) seeing the sickest patients in Lusaka and surrounding areas amidst the Pandemic. His passion lies in acute pain management and critical care.

Dr Naomi Shamambo

Publicity Secretary


Naomi is an enthusiastic Anaesthetist who is passionate about critical care, medical education and travelling. She is part of the inspire clinical teaching faculty and Primary Trauma Care (PTC) coordinator. She is a trustee for the Global Anaesthesia Development Partnerships (GADP). She is currently pursuing a certificate in medical education and Medical Training Initiative (MTI) fellowship. She is passionate about patient safety and the provision of high-quality anaesthetic services across the country. She likes making partnerships that bring about change for the provision of safe and high-quality anaesthetic and emergency services.

Dr Christine Msadabwe

Committee Member


Christine is a Physician Anaesthetist currently based at The Cancer Diseases Hospital (CDH) in Lusaka. She has a special interest in clinical leadership and pain management and is looking forward to pursuing a fellowship in pain medicine in the near future.
Outside of work, she is a wife and a mother to three beautiful daughters. She fills in some of her spare time with gardening and has recently started a medium scale project in beekeeping with two of her friends.

Dr Henry Nchimunya

Committee Member


Henry is an Anaesthetist at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka and is mainly stationed at the University Teaching Hospital’s Eye Hospital (UTH-EH) where he heads the Department of Anaesthesia. Paediatrics is his area of interest and he believes it is upon us as a profession to give a world-class Anaesthetic service as we contribute to improving Safety in Surgical outcomes.
To add to his list of titles, he is also a husband and a father. Henry enjoys cycling, reading self-help books and DIY projects.
